Phil Cook is a pianist, singer, and guitarist. He is a part of a band called Megafaun and was previously a part of a band called DeYarmond Edison, both of which are worth a quick Googling if you’ve got a minute to spare.
The first song below is somewhat similar to those bands, but a bit more catchy and footstomp-friendly. The second song is a Charlie Parr cover, so you know it’s good. Mr. Cook’s debut solo album, Southland Mission, is due out September 11th. You can pre-order it here.
Thanks to Adam over at Songs for the Day for the heads up. RIYL: Rayland Baxter, Warren Haynes, Charlie Parr, good music, guitar noodling
