The Deep Dark Woods – Red, Red Rose & Sugar Mama

The Deep Dark Woods is an alt-country/folk band from Saskatoon, Canada. They’re a hirsute five-piece outfit whose music is often associated with solitude, loneliness, and large amounts of snow.

“We don’t do beach music, dude.”

If T-Bone Burnett produced a Bon Iver album, and halfway through the recording process Burnett told Mr. Vernon to “give up that ninny’s falsetto and sing like a man”, the resulting album might sound like The Deep Dark Woods.

Their latest album, Jubilee, came out late last year. You can preview and purchase it here.

RIYL: Gram Parsons, The Wooden Sky, good music, Neil Young
