Mathien is an indie funkish rockish band based in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Their latest album, The Freedom Tapes, was quietly released earlier this year.  (“Quietly” because you might expect a record this upbeat and catchy to be released in the spring or summer rather than the middle of winter.)  Nonetheless, it’s got beats and grooves and funk by the gallon.

You should probably consider buying it directly from the band.
