Withered Hand – Horseshoe / New Gods

Scottish folk-rock troubadour Dan Willson performs under the stage name “Withered Hand”. His wobbly tenor, acoustic guitar, and occasional harmonica often sound like Neil Young, and that’s usually not a bad thing.

He recently released his second record, entitled New Gods. The record was written shortly after the death of a close friend and the birth of Willson’s first child.

The themes on the record are ones you might expect from that kind of source material: life, death, love, and loss. You can check out the album right here. “Horseshoe” and the title track are below.

RIYL: Ryan Adams, The Flying Burrito Brothers, harmonica, good music
