Mimicking Birds – Bloodlines

Portland’s Mimicking Birds make atmospheric indie pop that’s great for rainy days, something like Great Lake Swimmers meets Marcy Playground.

And yes, before you can utter an ounce of snark — it’s completely acceptable to favorably compare a band to Marcy Playground. Their first record was great, and wholly underrated because people got distracted by that one song that got played on the radio twenty times per day.

Comparisons aside, Mimicking Birds’ second album, Eons, came out last week. The first single, “Bloodlines”, is below. Happy listening.

RIYL: M. Ward, Great Lake Swimmers, good music, rainy days, music that isn’t in a hurry to get anywhere

(Recommended by the fine folks over at Richmond Playlist.)
